Israel’s role in the US-British occupation of Iraq is very much under-discussed. In his book, ‘In the Belly of the Green Bird: The Triumph of the Martyrs in Iraq’, Nir Rosen (probably the most knowledgeable outside observer on the Iraq War and its consequences) documented how in the Autumn of 2003, the US Army sent troops to Israel to learn the most effective methods for crushing urban guerrillas, who were causing problems for the US in Iraq. The US Army subsequently implemented the brutal tactics taught to them by the Israelis:
