Revealed: The British Army Bases Where Iraqi Detainees Were Sexually Abused
An overview of the British Army's use of sexual violence in Iraq.
On the anniversary of the US-British invasion of Iraq, I’ve compiled a list of the British Army bases where Iraqi detainees are confirmed to have been sexually abused by British soldiers. This list is based on what has thus far been confirmed, and so is far from complete. I will update it as more information comes to light, either through my own research or through other revelations. Not a single soldier has been prosecuted for any of these abuses, and British society has largely demonstrated a lack of concern for the legacy of these horrors; particularly the psychological trauma which the Iraqi victims are undoubtedly still living with. I have included the names of the bases, the years that the abuses were carried out, the military regiments that perpetrated the abuses, and some details of the abuses themselves.
